Identifying Features

The identify tool is the simplest way to retrieve attribute data about a feature on the map.

Steps For Identifying Features

  1. Click the Identify button Identify button on the MapTools toolbar.
  2. Move the mouse over the map and click on the feature to be identified.
  3. The Identify dialog will be displayed. In the left panel are all the features the identify tool found in the location clicked. Click on a feature in the left panel to display its associated attribute data in the right panel.

By default, the identify tool identifies features on the active selected map layers. This behavior can be changed by using the drop down list at the top of the Identify dialog.

Selection Tolerance

The identify result tool has a limited radius of effect. This can be changed by following the steps below:
  1. Click the Selection menu from the main menu.
  2. Click on Selection Options.
  3. Enter a valid pixel tolerance.
  4. Press the OK button.
